Somewhere in a small town, someone could build a real machine. The only thing missing is one person willing to take a chance on them. किसी छोटे शहर में कोई है जो सच में एक मशीन बना सकता है। बस एक ऐसा शख़्स नहीं मिलता जो उस पर भरोसा करके मौक़ा दे।

The hard part has never been money. It is that no one around them will take that chance, and if it does not work there is nothing to fall back on. So they never start, and most people never will. मुश्किल कभी पैसे की नहीं रही। मुश्किल यह है कि जो बना सकता है, उसके आसपास कोई इतना सा दांव लगाने को तैयार नहीं होता, और काम न चले तो लौटने के लिए कुछ नहीं बचता। इसलिए वह कभी शुरू ही नहीं करता, और ज़्यादातर लोग कभी नहीं करते।

The countries that built real manufacturing did not begin with big factories or government panels picking winners. They began with people in the same town. Someone who had already done it saw that a young person was serious and quietly put up the money to let them try. No one could tell in advance which of them would make it, so they backed the person and not a prediction. India has the talent for this and it has the money for this. What it does not have enough of is that plain trust between one person and another.

जिन देशों ने सच में निर्माण खड़ा किया, उन्होंने न बड़ी फ़ैक्ट्रियों से शुरुआत की और न किसी सरकारी समिति से जो बैठकर तय करे कि कौन जीतेगा। शुरुआत उन्हीं के शहर के लोगों से हुई। जिसने ख़ुद यह काम कर रखा था, उसने देखा कि एक नौजवान गंभीर है और चुपचाप पैसे लगाकर उसे आज़माने का मौक़ा दे दिया। पहले से कोई नहीं बता सकता था कि इनमें से कौन कामयाब होगा, इसलिए उन्होंने किसी अंदाज़े पर नहीं, उस शख़्स पर भरोसा किया। भारत के पास इसके लिए हुनर भी है और पैसा भी। कमी है तो बस एक शख़्स का दूसरे पर वह सीधा भरोसा।

What this isयह क्या है

The Builders' Grant gives a builder enough to actually start. Enough to buy one machine and pay one person for six months, so the work can begin instead of staying an idea in someone's head.

निर्माता अनुदान किसी निर्माता को इतना देता है कि वह सच में शुरुआत कर सके। इतना कि वह एक मशीन ख़रीद ले और छह महीने के लिए एक आदमी को रख ले, ताकि काम शुरू हो जाए और बात किसी के मन में एक ख़याल बनकर न रह जाए।

Why it mattersयह क्यों मायने रखता है

Someone who spends two years trying to build a real product learns what no classroom teaches. They find out what a supplier actually does when a deadline slips. They find out why a part that looks right on paper fails on the bench. Even if the product never sells, that person now knows how things are really made. When a country decides to build at scale, these are the people it depends on, and they only exist if someone let them try.

Maybe this is meant for you. You have a real project and you know you can do it. You are in a place where no one funds an idea that has not been proven, and you cannot afford to fail and have nothing left. You have been waiting for one person to take you seriously. If that is you, apply.

Maybe this is meant for you in a different way. You have built something yourself, or you have spent years near the people who make things. No committee stands between you and the builder. You read what they wrote and decide for yourself, then back them directly. Some of the people backed this way will not succeed, and that is part of how this works, not a flaw in it. You already know how rarely anyone takes that kind of chance on a person. This time the person who takes it could be you. If that is you, write in.

Every application is read by a person, not scored by a form or ranked against everyone else. You will get a reply, even if the reply is that the time is not right or that it is not a fit. No panel sits in judgment of whether your idea deserves to exist. What has to happen is both simpler and harder than that. One backer has to read it and choose to stand with you. So the timing rests with them and not with us. The only promise here is that a real person will read what you wrote and answer you.

हर आवेदन एक शख़्स पढ़ता है, कोई फ़ॉर्म नहीं छाँटता, न किसी और से उसकी तुलना की जाती है। आपको जवाब मिलेगा, चाहे जवाब यह हो कि अभी सही समय नहीं है या बात नहीं बन रही। कोई पंचायत यह तय करने नहीं बैठती कि आपके विचार को मौक़ा मिलना चाहिए या नहीं। इसके लिए जो ज़रूरी है वह इससे आसान भी है और मुश्किल भी: बस एक समर्थक उसे पढ़े और आपके साथ खड़े होने का फ़ैसला करे। इसलिए समय उन पर निर्भर है, हम पर नहीं। यहाँ बस एक वादा है, कि आपका लिखा एक शख़्स सच में पढ़ेगा और आपको जवाब देगा।

A builder starts at Level 1 with their own money and puts the work where people can see it. This happens before any backer is involved, so the seriousness is real and not just claimed.

निर्माता पहले लेवल पर अपने पैसे से शुरू करता है और काम वहाँ रखता है जहाँ लोग उसे देख सकें। यह किसी भी समर्थक के आने से पहले होता है, ताकि गंभीरता सिर्फ़ कही न जाए, सच में दिखे।

There are five levels. Level 1 is ₹50,000 of the builder's own money. The levels after it rise to ₹1 lakh, then ₹3 lakh, then ₹5 lakh, then ₹10 lakh. A builder reaches the next level only after finishing the work of the one below. They are measured against their own last result and never ranked against other builders.

कुल पाँच लेवल हैं। पहला लेवल निर्माता के अपने ₹50,000 का है। उसके बाद के लेवल बढ़कर ₹1 लाख, फिर ₹3 लाख, फिर ₹5 लाख और फिर ₹10 लाख तक जाते हैं। निर्माता अगले लेवल पर तभी पहुँचता है जब नीचे वाले का काम पूरा कर ले। उसे उसके अपने पिछले काम से आँका जाता है, दूसरे निर्माताओं से कभी नहीं।

No committee decides whose project is worthy. No one can tell in advance which attempt will work, so no one here pretends to. A backer reads about a builder and decides for themselves, then backs that person directly.

कोई समिति यह तय नहीं करती कि किसके काम को मौक़ा मिलना चाहिए। पहले से कोई नहीं बता सकता कि कौन सी कोशिश चलेगी, इसलिए यहाँ कोई इसका दिखावा भी नहीं करता। समर्थक किसी निर्माता के बारे में पढ़ता है और ख़ुद फ़ैसला करता है, फिर सीधे उसी का साथ देता है।

Backer money sits in a neutral escrow account. 80% goes to the builder's own bank account, released in parts as each milestone is met. 20% pays for running the escrow and checking that the work was actually done. That is the cost of keeping it honest, and nothing else.

समर्थक का पैसा एक तटस्थ एस्क्रो खाते में रहता है। 80% निर्माता के अपने बैंक खाते में जाता है, हर पड़ाव पूरा होने पर हिस्सों में। 20% एस्क्रो चलाने और यह जाँचने में लगता है कि काम सच में हुआ। यही इसे ईमानदार रखने की लागत है, और कुछ नहीं।

It is a grant. The builder keeps the idea and owns all of it. There is no equity and there is no loan. The builder pays no fee, and the backer receives no tax certificate. The builder works only on their own idea.

यह एक अनुदान है। विचार निर्माता का अपना रहता है और उस पर पूरा हक़ उसी का है। न कोई हिस्सेदारी होती है, न कोई क़र्ज़। निर्माता कोई शुल्क नहीं देता, और समर्थक को कोई कर प्रमाणपत्र नहीं मिलता। निर्माता सिर्फ़ अपने ही विचार पर काम करता है।

If you have a real project and you mean to do it, apply. If you can stand behind someone who does, write in. Either way, you are doing the thing this country almost never does. You are trusting a builder before there is any proof that they will succeed.
